No. Temple evaluates patients with no upper age limit and instead focuses on your overall health. During your evaluation, the team looks at your overall health to determine your eligibility for surgery and the steps that come after surgery. If age alone was the reason you were turned away elsewhere, we’d encourage you to schedule a visit with our team.
Possibly. Living donation means that you receive a kidney from a living donor which can often mean a much shorter wait than being on the deceased-donor waiting list. When receiving a living donation, the kidney is likely to work right away. If you have a willing donor who isn’t a match for you, paired kidney exchange programs can still make your transplant possible by matching donor-recipient pairs with each other. Getting your evaluation done promptly and staying active on the list also matters. Our team reviews every available path and helps you to pursue the one that could get you to transplant sooner.
