TREATMENT OPTIONS TAILORED FOR YOU

Temple Lung Center doctors have vast experience treating patients with advanced or late-stage COPD

Our goal is to improve the symptoms of the disease and prevent its sudden worsening. The progression of COPD varies among patients, which is why we provide individualized treatment plans that may include:

  • Inhaled and oral medications in both short- and long-term forms.
  • Oxygen therapy for patients with low levels of oxygen in their blood.
  • Pulmonary rehabilitation to improve lung function and oxygen intake.
  • Bullectomy, which surgically removes large air spaces in the lungs called bullae.
  • Lung volume reduction surgery that surgically removes damaged lung tissue to improve
    breathing in select patients.
  • Bronchoscopic lung volume reduction (BLVR), a new technique that doesn’t involve any cutting.
  • Lung transplant for patients with very severe COPD and no other treatment options.

RONNIE'S
STORY

Ronny was treated for 8 years at another hospital for his COPD. But when his breathing suddenly worsened, his brother rushed him to Temple. Here, doctors stabilized his respiratory failure and offered him treatment options nobody had ever told him about. Today, Ronny is breathing easier and has become a regular at his local gym and Temple’s COPD Support Group.
